When we first started Choomi Naturals, we weren’t actually trying to create an “allergy-friendly snack”—it happened organically. Our first products, our Macaroons, were “Naturally Gluten-Free.” The original recipe didn’t require substitutes or science experiments; macaroons just typically don’t contain gluten.

Once we realized we had something special, we dove deep into the world of allergy-friendly foods. What we found was a lot of lackluster products that were marketed beautifully but tasted… well, not so great. We knew we could do better. We became our own biggest critics, refining our recipes until we created what we believe are the best gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and peanut-free snacks available anywhere. Our goal has always been simple: Great snacks that anyone can say “yes” to.

What does ‘All-Natural’ mean at Choomi Naturals?

During our recipe testing phase, we discovered that the “easy” way to make a consumer product was to use “unnatural” ingredients. Artificial additives are cheaper, offer a longer shelf life, and yield consistent results in a commercial kitchen.

The problem? They taste “plasticky.” If you’ve tried enough gluten-free snacks, you know exactly what we mean.

More importantly, those ingredients didn’t align with our eating habits at home. We have a massive vegetable garden in our backyard that we celebrate throughout the summer. We believe food can be the best medicine in the world, but only if it’s as nature intended. We couldn’t love clean eating in our personal lives and not reflect that in Choomi Naturals. If we wouldn’t serve it at our own table, we won’t sell it to you.

Why are Choomi Naturals priced differently from big-box snacks?

We’ll be honest: We hate raising prices. If we could afford to sell Choomi Naturals for $1 a bag and still keep the lights on, we absolutely would.

When a small business raises prices, it’s rarely about increasing profit margins—it’s about survival. As costs for high-quality, non-GMO ingredients and ethical shipping continue to rise, we must adapt to continue supplying our customers. As a small business, we can’t always control the global supply chain, but we can control quality. We refuse to cut corners on our ingredients just to save a few cents. We believe that by offering a superior product at a fair value, our customers will see the difference.

  • On the small side: Choomi is run by Pete and Olan. We are the founders and owners. Our backgrounds are a mix of professional baking, restaurant ownership, writing, and arts and design. It might seem like a quirky mix of skills for a snack company, but those diverse perspectives are exactly what allow us to create a brand we stand behind 100%.
